Environment Impact Assessment
Herimtage Quarry
This Kentish ragstone Quarry developed by Gallagher Aggregates has pioneered the uses of ragstone, which is the only significant hard rock reserve in South East England. We have prepared four environmental statements for the quarry and its extensions. The quarrying is phased to enable rapid infilling and restoration and includes a pioneering aggregate recycling facility. Our most recent EIA is for an extension into woodland and involves integrating the quarry working plan with habitat and protected species management, with habitat creation on the restored quarry. The proposals include an evidence based assessment that biodiversity and species population will be increased before the quarry commences and in perpetuity.
